“I tried to get features that motherf*ckers can’t get.”

YBN Cordae promises his debut studio album, The Lost Boy, will be available by the end of July. Yesterday, the DMV-bred emcee let loose the new single “Bad Idea” featuring Chance The Rapper.

In an interview with Zane Lowe for Beats 1 on Apple Music, Cordae discussed working with Lil Chano on the track. He stated, “My brother Chance did it, killed the verse, murdered the verse. I really loved the song. It’s one of my favorite songs.”

Cordae also talked about how the two rappers met at the California-set Coachella Festival and then exchanged phone numbers. Eventually, the YBN collective member flew to Chance’s hometown of Chicago to finalize the record about embracing self-worth and resilience.

“[‘Bad Idea‘] has good home vibes, good summer vibes, a good nostalgic feeling to it. But not in a forceful way, cause I feel like now everybody’s bringing back the nostalgic way, but in a force,” offered Cordae. “It’s got to come natural. You know what I’m saying? This one feels really natural.”

Previously, the product of Suitland, Maryland confirmed Ty Dolla $ign and Pusha T would appear on The Lost Boy. Cordae informed Lowe that he collaborated with Meek Mill and Anderson .Paak for the project too.

“I’ve got something crazy sh *t with Meek Mill, with Pusha T. I’m really excited,” expressed Cordae. “My project isn’t like feature-stacked heavy. I tried to get features that motherf*ckers can’t get. Nobody got an Anderson .Paak feature. He’s Marvin Gaye, James Brown.”

The Dr. Dre protégé added, “Every feature came about extremely naturally. We’re all in the studio together. Everybody I made a song with – we were in the studio together at the same time. Everybody had a marquee verse. Their verse made the song way better. I’m really blessed and honored to have them on it.”
